You are saying CATEGORICALLY that someone should not EVER use straight inductors in series (to get the right total of mh) as a passive crossover for woofers, period, right? You mention 'boxes' Mine are open full dipoles. So, whomever here has had good experience with comparing passive crossovers like the ones I use and who happens also to be very familiar with the Crown's crossovers, I would really appreciate any opinions and input that would give me more information in order to decide which I should do.Ĭlick to expand.Ah, very good to know! You clearly know your inductor / crossover stuff I want to ask any here who have the technical knowledge what their opinion is as to whether I should just go on using the Crown full range with my passive inductors, or whether I will actually get better (purer) sound using one of the internal Crown crossovers. However, the Crown does come with it's own electronic crossover (I've never really been fond of those.) BUT. I liked doing that because I want the absolute LEAST electronics in the signal path as possible. IIRC, with the inductors mh added up, I THINK the crossover point is roughly around 100 hz. For a long time up until now, I've been using a series of passive inductors (copper air core) to roll off the highs for the woofers. Thanks to another member's EXCELLENT suggestion, I now have a brand new Crown (never had one before) running my 2-12" dipole woofers.
